Qwo

First ever FDA approved treatment for Cellulite in the Buttocks in St. George – Oasis Aesthetics

Do you have concerns about cellulite on your derrière? This is a very common concern expressed in women with 84% of women reporting an interest in non-surgical treatment options. At Oasis Aesthetics, we are excited to offer the first ever FDA approved treatment for women targeting cellulite in the buttocks. Qwo, a new injectable product, is now available to target those stubborn areas.

How does Qwo work?

Qwo, also known as collengenase clostridium histolyticum-aaes, has three mechanisms to help improve the appearance of cellulite in a process called Enzymatic Subcision and Remodeling (ESRTM).

  • Qwo is specially designed to break down the tough bands called fibrous septae.
  • Qwo initiates the reorganization of fat lobules to smooth the buttocks
  • Blood vessels are created in the injection site which leads to a youthful thickening of the skin

How many injections of Qwo will I need?

Qwo is injected in three sessions spaced out by three weeks. After the last injection we allow one month to allow the body to heal appropriately and then see you back for pictures.

What are the risks of Qwo to treat cellulite?

Extensive research has been done with over 1,800 patients enrolled to determine the safety and efficacy of Qwo.

The most common side effect of the medication is bruising. Eighty-four percent of women experienced bruising after the injections. This is due to tiny blood vessels that are remodeled during the process or due to trauma from the needle. Fortunately, patients reported that the rate drops dramatically with each injection so the last visit is much less likely to have bruising compared to the first. Please remember to schedule your swimsuit vacations to allow time to heal from bruising that may occur.

As with all injectable medications, Dr. Wallin will use caution and avoid injecting you if you are on blood thinners. The research shows that patients can safely use Qwo if they take 150 mg or less of aspirin daily.

Other skin reactions such as pain, itchy skin, and nodule formation were reported but are rare.

What is the process like when I get Qwo injected?

Dr. Wallin wants you to feel as comfortable as possible when you visit. You should plan to have an examination where you will have the areas of concern marked in the standing position. This allows for the best visualization of cellulite.  Pictures are taken at this time to document the injection sites for the next visit. Qwo is injected while you lay on your belly and only takes 5 minutes to inject the areas. After, we ask you to lay there for another 5 minutes prior to dressing to leave the office. We will schedule your next visit three weeks or more in the future.

Does it hurt to get Qwo?

The needles we use to inject Qwo are some of the smallest available. We can use techniques to keep you comfortable during your treatment but most women don’t require any additional treatment for injection site pain.

How much does Qwo cost?

A full procedure (3 treatments) is $2,700.  A very small percentage of women may need more than this, depending upon the total number of dimples they have.  Come in for a visit and we can give you a price for exactly what you need.

How can I tell if I’m a good candidate for Qwo?

Women can have two conditions that might appear as “cellulite”. Dimples that remain in place and are visible after a slight elevation of the skin above the area are due to the bands and are treated well with Qwo. If you have an area that appears dimpled but completely resolves with skin elevation this might be more of a skin laxity concern and Qwo doesn’t work for skin laxity. If you are unsure, come in and we can evaluate you and see if it’s right for you.
