ST. GEORGE FACIAL PLASTIC SURGEON

MEET DR. WALLIN, MD

Dr. Wallin’s passion for aesthetics revolves around helping patients feel vibrant and seeing what they decide to do with their new-found confidence. His focus is on making long-term connections with patients, learning about their lives, and determining how he can improve their overall wellbeing.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING

After completing his undergraduate degree at the University of Utah, Dr. Wallin began his medical studies at The George Washington School of Medicine and Health Sciences in Washington, DC. He was then chosen for a highly competitive residency at Wake Forest Baptist Health in Winston Salem, NC where he focused his surgical training in the head and neck. It was during these five years that Dr. Wallin found his love of facial plastic surgery and was selected as a fellow to train with one of the specialty’s most known pioneers in cosmetic facial plastic surgery in Gulf Shores, AL.

Dr. Wallin has been very active in medical missions having participated with Operation Smile in Kenya and has traveled to the Dominican Republic numerous times to perform surgeries. He was recognized by a fortune 500 company for his efforts to improve the health of patients in the Dominican Republic.

He is board-certified by the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and the American Board of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery. As an expert in the areas of the face, head, and neck, Dr. Wallin has the skill to provide the highest patient care. His experience in open and closed rhinoplasty (nose surgery), face and neck liftseyelid surgery, and eyebrow lifts, allow Dr. Wallin to provide complete facial rejuvenation. He also enjoys supplementing treatment plans with minimally-invasive treatments, such as lasers to rejuvenate the skin and injectables, at Oasis Aesthetics.

PERSONALIZED PATIENT CARE AT EVERY STEP

The people Dr. Wallin helps are the most fulfilling part of his work; he finds great reward in adding to patients’ lives either with cosmetic or reconstructive procedures. His goal to provide superb care based on a relationship of trust is seen in his focused attention to detail and appreciation of each patient’s individuality.

During every consultation, Dr. Wallin ensures there is ample time for patients to relate what they are hoping to achieve. The best way to provide exceptional treatment is to truly understand the patient’s concerns.  The consultation process also includes taking pictures to help in decision-making, which enables better communication between surgeon and patient.  After your cosmetic consultations, Dr. Wallin encourages you to read the material provided and to return with questions you might have.

While patients are in our St. George office, we invite them to meet with our master esthetician to receive truly comprehensive care. Patients who book surgeries are provided with a complimentary aesthetic service to help augment their results.

Desert Bloom Plastic Surgery

SPECIALIZED TREATMENT FOCUSED ON THE HEAD, FACE, AND NECK

While many plastic surgeons offer facial procedures, a specialist whose treatment area is limited to the head and neck is specially equipped to treat these complex and delicate structures. Dr. Wallin offers highly subspecialized care for facial and neck procedures and is considered an expert in his field. His years of experience as an assistant professor in a nationally-ranked US News Best Hospital allowed him to hone special skills in providing care for cosmetic, reconstructive, traumatic, and congenital concerns. Even when it comes to non-surgical procedures, such as cosmetic injectables, his role as a surgeon affords him an intimate anatomy knowledge resulting in better results for aesthetic patients.

WHY DID YOU DECIDE YOU WANTED TO BE A FACIAL PLASTIC SURGEON?

I knew since I was a high school I wanted to be a surgeon, but had no idea why. I have since learned that the ability to care for others and improve their lives in an area as important as the face is the most rewarding career out there. Facial plastic surgery is the perfect balance of art with challenging technical procedures. In medical school I was drawn to the intricate head and neck anatomy and loved it although it was challenging to master.

I’ve seen many patients cry as they have told me how the surgery I performed has changed their lives. This doesn’t seem to matter if the surgery was done for reconstruction or is purely cosmetic in nature. The ability to help a person look on the outside how they feel in the inside is rewarding beyond words.

I enjoy seeing patients that decide to do something new, improve their work situation or even date again as a result of a surgery that helps them increase their confidence. I truly enjoy making long term connections with the patients learning about them and their lives.

WHAT DO YOU FIND FULFULLING ABOUT BEING A FACIAL PLASTIC SURGEON?

Seeing that smile after a surgery is all the reward a person could ask for. I have seen that smile on the face of a 65-year-old lady after a face lift and also a 3-month-old infant in the Dominican Republic after cleft lip.

ANYTHING PERSONAL YOU WANT TO SHARE ABOUT YOURSELF THAT CLIENTS WOULD FIND RELATABLE?

While I love my career nothing is more important to me that my wife, Cianne, and our 5 children. Having moved to St. George in 2019 we have been able to reconnect with extended family and it feels good to be back in Utah after a 16 year adventure across the nation.

One of the highlights of my career has been participating in numerous semiannual medical mission trips to Dominican Republic teamed up with a Fortune 500 company, Hanes Brands Inc.  Having participated in this has taught me how blessed we are to have access to care and wonderful doctors right here in St. George, Utah.

TELL US ABOUT YOUR PRACTICE AND CULTURE FROM A PHILOSOPHICAL PERSPECTIVE.

We provide a superb cosmetic and reconstructive plastic surgery care for patients based on a relationship of trust and quality.

WHAT MAKES YOUR PRACTICE DIFFERENT FROM OTHERS? WHY DO PATIENTS CHOOSE YOU?

1) We offer plastic surgery that is highly subspecialized to the head, face, and neck only. We don’t claim to be experts everywhere, just this area.

2) Only facial plastic surgeon in Southern Utah with several years’ experience in a nationally ranked US News Best Hospital providing care for cosmetic, reconstructive, trauma and congenital concerns

3) We offer a surgeon as your injector for fillers and botox. His training wasn’t a weekend course focused on diagrams or drawings but rather years of experience seeing this anatomy in surgery. He has taught dozens of young doctors safe injection techniques.

WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO DO IN YOUR LEISURE TIME WHEN YOU ARE NOT OPERATING OR SEEING PATIENTS?

I have played ice hockey for years but since moving back to St. George I have started to enjoy the wonderful area we live in. We spend a lot of time hiking and climbing as a family. I also have a passion for boats and love playing on the water!
