FILLERS

DESERT BLOOM PLASTIC SURGERY

Restore Youthfulness at Desert Bloom
Plastic Surgery

A common sign of facial aging is a loss of volume in the cheeks and lips. Hollowness under the eyes, sagging, and the accentuation of lines and wrinkles are typically the first signs of aging. In these cases of visible signs of aging, where there is no significant sagging of the skin, a dermal filler can be used to fill in hollow areas and create a youthful appearance. This minimally-invasive procedure requires little to no downtime or recovery, and results can last from six months up to a few years.

If you’re interested in what dermal fillers can do to enhance your appearance, smooth your skin, and turn back the clock, contact Desert Bloom Plastic Surgery for a consultation.

WHAT ARE DERMAL FILLERS?

Dermal fillers are made of hyaluronic acids, or complex sugars, and are a natural component to our skin. They are used to diminish fine lines and wrinkles on the face while restoring fullness and volume to treated areas. When injected into certain areas in the face, dermal fillers can plump soft tissue, enhance shallow contours, improve the appearance of creases and wrinkles, and create smooth, youthful-looking skin. Dermal fillers can also stimulate the body’s ability to create collagen, leading to a natural boost in this powerful anti-aging compound. Dermal fillers are ideal for patients who are not yet experiencing advanced signs of aging and who are looking for a minimally-invasive solution to aging. Over time fillers are absorbed slowly into the body and leave no residual effect and are considered safe for a wide variety of patients. Make sure your injector has detailed knowledge of facial anatomy to avoid complications.

Types of Dermal Fillers

Working with our team, you can choose a treatment option that best suits your goals. Fillers are highly effective in treating cheek depressions, tear troughs, deep nasolabial folds, marionette lines, making small changes to the appearance of one’s nose, and in redefining lip borders and fullness. Results from hyaluronic fillers typically last from six to 24 months. Widely-known and used HA injectable fillers are Juvéderm® and Revanesse® – the full lines are available at Desert Bloom Plastic Surgey.

Polylactic acid is another popular form of dermal filler sought-after by patients for its lasting results. This type of filler is effective at filling laugh lines, treating deep nasolabial folds and volumizing the cheeks. Sculptra®, which contains polylactic acid, gradually and naturally creates beautiful results over several weeks. Sculptra®is considered semi-permanent, as it promotes your body’s ability to create increased collagen, allowing you to look refreshed and youthful for much longer than other forms of fillers.

The Injectable Procedure

The filler injection procedure is quick and comfortable. Many patients come in on their lunch hour or while out doing errands and experience little to no disruption of their daily schedules. During your appointment, a distraction tool or numbing agent may be used to relieve any discomfort you may feel from the injections. Then the filler will be placed into the predetermined areas by Dr. Wallin. You may experience swelling, redness, or tenderness, but these should fade quickly. Depending on the type of dermal filler used, you may see results instantly.

Combining Dermal Fillers with Other Treatments

Dermal fillers are excellent for increasing volume in the face, filling in thin lips, and smoothing out folds and wrinkles. However, it cannot address other signs of aging, such as expression lines or sagging due to excess fat or skin under the chin. If you have these issues, you may want to compliment your treatment with additional injectables such as Botox® or Kybella®. Our staff will help guide you to reinvigorate dull skin with treatments to produce the best result.

Recovery and Results

Recovery and downtime from dermal filler treatments are usually minimal. While some patients may experience bruising and swelling at the time of treatment, this usually fades within a day or two.  It is important to plan your schedule for a few days after injections for swelling and mild bruising that may occur with injections. Depending on the type of filler used, you may see results very quickly.
