How much botox can I use, and where?

Botox is FDA approved for several areas of the face, and in certain amounts. The FDA forehead indication is 20 units (most commonly 15-25 units are used), the area between the eyebrows, also know as the elevens or the glabella, has an indication for 20 units (most commonly 15-25 units are used).  The outer corner of the eyes, or crow’s feet, have an indication for 12 units per side or a total of 24 units (most commonly 15-20 units are used).

There are also several other non-FDA approved areas of the face that can safely be injected in small quantities. The upper lip can be injected with around 5-7 units to created a larger appearance, the chin can be injected with around 5-10 units to smoothe dimpling, the sides of the nose can be injected with 5-10 units to decrease scrunching, and the outer corners of the lower mouth can be injected with 5-10 units to give an upward curvature of the lips. There are also options of treating vertical muscle bands in the neck, and the strong muscle that controls the jaw in larger quantities.

We would be happy to discuss treatment options in a consultation setting with same day treatment for personalized botox recommendations!
